Now Accepting Internship Applications — 2026/2027 Placement Year
Shoreview Psychotherapy is a trauma-focused telehealth private practice serving adults in Washington State. We specialize in complex trauma, dissociative disorders, religious trauma, and PTSD and operate from a social justice, LGBTQ+ and trans affirming framework. We are currently accepting applications for our clinical internship placement for the 2026/2027 academic year.
About This Placement
This is a small, intentional practice with a big commitment to intern development. You will carry a caseload, receive high-quality weekly supervision from a Washington State approved clinical supervisor with ten years of experience and deep specialization in complex trauma and dissociation, and have access to a small team of experienced clinicians for consultation, shadowing, and peer learning. You will leave this placement having learned how to think like a trauma clinician, how to build a caseload, and how to operate as an independent practitioner. If you are looking for a placement where you will be challenged and treated as a developing professional, this might be the right fit.
Who We Are Looking For
-
Graduate students in their clinical specialization or internship year in an MSW, or equivalent master's level counseling program — please confirm your program allows placement with an LICSW supervisor
-
Prior practicum or fieldwork experience must have been direct clinical/client-facing
-
Real-world human services or social work experience prior to graduate school — case management, SUD treatment, peer counseling, crisis work, community mental health, or similar
-
Trauma-focused coursework completed prior to placement start
-
Self-aware, humble, and genuinely open to supervisory feedback
-
Flexible thinkers who can hold multiple clinical frameworks and adapt when new information challenges their existing perspective
What to Expect
-
Fully remote — all sessions via secure video platform
-
Working hours chosen within a Monday–Friday 9:00am–6:00pm window, established collaboratively to meet program hour requirements
-
Caseload building to 12–15+ clients by end of placement
-
Weekly individual supervision with the Clinical Director
-
Active collaboration with a small team of experienced clinicians — interns are expected to initiate contact with colleagues proactively to shadow sessions, staff cases, and seek perspective; this is a tracked and evaluated learning goal
-
Required reading completed prior to placement start
-
Suicide/crisis safety planning to be completed before seeing first client
-
Active participation in caseload development including networking, community outreach, and practice social media
-
Monthly team meetings and ongoing peer consultation
-
Highly preferred but not required- trainings in EMDR or Brainspotting (Level 1)
This Is an Independent Placement
This is not a placement where clients will be handed to you. While the practice provides support and referrals when available, interns are expected to take active ownership of their own caseload development. Learning the realities of private practice — including how to build and sustain a caseload — is part of the curriculum. Interns who thrive here are self-directed, curious, and comfortable taking initiative without being prompted.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
Shoreview Psychotherapy is an explicitly affirming, social justice-oriented practice. We work from an anti-oppressive, LGBTQ+ and trans affirming framework and that shapes everything we do — from how we treat clients to how we operate as a team. Applicants who share these values and want to practice within this framework are encouraged to apply.
Independent Contractor Therapist — Full Time
Shoreview Psychotherapy | Washington State | Telehealth
Shoreview Psychotherapy is looking for a full-time independent contractor therapist to join a small, intentionally built practice centered on complex trauma, dissociation, and relational depth work.
This is not a clinician farm. We are not chasing volume. We are building something different: a practice where clinicians have genuine autonomy, strong consultation culture, and the space to do real work with complex clients.
If that sounds like what you have been looking for, keep reading.
What We're Looking For
We are open to clinicians at various stages. Associates working toward licensure and fully licensed LICSWs, LMFTs, LMHCs, and PhDs are all welcome to apply. What matters more than where you are in your career is who you are as a clinician.
The right fit for this role is someone who:
-
Has experience with complex trauma, or a genuine hunger to develop it
-
Has training in a trauma processing modality (EMDR, Brainspotting, DBR, or similar), or a clear willingness to invest in one within your first six months
-
Is drawn to somatic and parts-based approaches (ego state work, IFS, SE, or similar). We don't care which flavor, just that you're oriented that way
-
Values depth, relationship, and client-centered care over manualized, protocol-driven treatment
-
Understands cognitive approaches like CBT, ACT and DBT but doesn't live there. Our clients generally need more than cognitive reframing, and you get that
-
Holds anti-oppressive values and practices them, not just as a checkbox but as a genuine orientation
-
Wants to keep growing, clinically, personally, and professionally
What Shoreview Offers
-
A genuinely supportive clinical culture with real consultation and collaboration
-
Autonomy in how you practice. No productivity quotas, no rigid models... just be ethical, have good boundaries, and care about your clients outcomes and you will do well here.
-
A transparent, fair compensation structure based on a cost share model designed to put as much in your pocket as possible while still maintaining a well supported practice.
-
Access to supervision and clinical mentorship in complex trauma and dissociation
Compensation
Contractors are compensated on a transparent cost share model. Estimated take home ranges from approximately $75 to $92 per billable hour. Full compensation structure is reviewed openly during the interview process.
